Corporate Payment/sponsorship

I have patients seeking treatment in my clinic whose medical fees are partially borne by their employers (usually corporate companies). For example, if their total bill is $100, the patients pay $80 and another $20 to be paid by their employer in the subsequent month. Do I issue 2 invoices? one to the patient and one to their employer?

Unless you have entered into an agreement with the employer, your patient is primarily liable to pay the medical fees and therefore you should only issue one invoice to the patient.

Tony, yes, i have an agreement with their employer where their employers will take care 20% of their employee’s medical benefits.

In that case I would issue two invoices because the invoice is the primary record used not only to record the income but also to enable you to take the necessary actions to collect the debt.
