COGS not posting unless full inventory is sold

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with inventory COGS in Manager. When I sell part of my inventory, the system records the sale amount (customer is debited), but no entry is posted to Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) — the COGS remains $0.

However, when I sell the entire inventory quantity, Manager posts the COGS correctly.

Things I’ve already checked:

  • I’m using Inventory Items correctly (not expense accounts)
  • Inventory has quantity and cost available before the sale
  • Inventory location is consistent across purchase and sale
  • Costing method is Weighted Average
  • Inventory item type is Inventory Item, not service or non-inventory
  • Using the latest version of Manager

I even tried small write-offs to clear any rounding issues, but it didn’t solve the problem.

Has anyone experienced this? Could this be a precision/rounding bug? Would switching to FIFO help?

I noticed that if you are using starting inventory only, the cost is not deducted unless you set the Sales Invoices to check “Act as Delivery Note”.
