Barcode reader PoS

Does Manager accept data from a barcode reader, if yes, could this be used in sales as an alternative to a POS?

A POS is preferable over an accounting package when used for inventory and sales transactions. We decided for small supermarkets, restaurants, etc to use seperate POS systems for inventory and sales and use Manager for accounting and financial decision-making. Of interest for us for longer term goals is the balance sheet , something that our POS systems lack. It gives us a clear view of what we own (Assets), Owe (Liabities) and the value of the business (Equity). Yes, you can use Excel to certain extent as a Word Processors and similarly Word for some simple tables with calculations, but each software has its strength and weaknesses. It is up to you.
