According to the releases notes that shouldn’t be the case:
“New … button will take you to file dialog where you can select where to create new Manager database”
Perhaps this is part of the in-progress mac & linux progression yet to be implemented.

The latest version (17.4.11) has Remove option on “Recent” list.
That’s true, but initial conversion happens automatically when opening a post-17.4.0 version, and every old data file that was represented by an alphanumeric mishmash is converted to one named after the business in plain language. The converted file is in the old application data folder until you move it.
I have not upgraded as yet but would like to know before making any change or move to the new version, will this impact user security or permissions in the server version?
Server edition has not been affected by these changes.
However, next version of server edition will work differently. I’m planning to implement features such as customer portal, supplier portal etc. and in order to deliver these features, single instance of server edition will no longer be able to run multiple businesses side-by-side.
If you have multiple businesses, you will need to launch server edition multiple times, once for each Manager file.
E.g.
ManagerServer.exe FirstBusiness.manager -port 8080
ManagerServer.exe SecondBusiness.manager -port 8081
ManagerServer.exe ThirdBusiness.manager -port 8082
I am running 30 plus businesses. Now with multiple instances of Manager.exe server edition, will this affect the licensing? From what what you are telling me Manager will just be creating another port on which it will be listening for “calls” and will this generate additional load on systems and performance.
I really like the simplicity of the current arrangement but am all for improvement just need to understand where it is positioned. On the face of what I understand the upgrade may involve some engineering and in our case, possible downtime?
Also will there be a minimum version requirement before the upgrade / cut over?
Hi. Trying to upgrade to latest versión of your wonderfull program. Got this message.
SQLiteException: Could not open database file: -psn_0_3847083 (CannotOpen)
That file is empty. You can delete it.
I receive the msj when trying to open manager (the new download) can go any further.
You need to navigate to where the Manager data files (not programme files) are located and delete that file.
The issue is that there doesnt appear to actually be a manager file called -psn that is able to be deleted - well I couldnt find it
Not sure where the file is coming from but can you use Remove
within the program to remove business from the list of recent businesses?
@lubos - @clive can’t as still has the previous home page format on his 16.12.mm edition, even though his file names have been converted.
See later in his original topic here, where he started the updated but ended up with a hybrid of editions
I don’t see it within Manager on the previous ver. and the new versión does not go any further than that message. Tried searching for the file without sucess. Sorry to bother but I’m really intereste on this new version and the capability to have the file in dropbox or wherever.
I just installed the upgrade. I really like the further simplification. I like the database change, and that I can click on the accounting file to open Manager Accounting. The installation was so boring, as it is supposed to be. No excitement over losing anything. Everything just worked, and worked simply.
One thing, though a very small thing, that I hope you will put back is to have a link to your website https://manager.io on the desktop app. Or is the link there, I just don’t know where to see it?
Anyway, the link to manager.io just seems like a nice thing. I see you have all the important features, and fast, responsive software performance.
Good job. Thank you for continuing to improve the software.
@BaldeSeca, did you try what lubos suggested “can you use Remove within the program to remove business from the list of recent businesses?”
The “remove” button is next to Recent on the home page or can’t you get to the home page.
“the capability to have the file in Dropbox or wherever” has always been available in past versions.
Ok I’ve successfully installed the update. This time, instead of getting the error about the -psn account with the Try Repair button (which did nothing), it went straight into Manager and I was able to “remove” the dummy business. I don’t know what I did differently.
I would like to reiterate a point made earlier by @Tut regarding the back button - we need a HOME button as clicking the “X” next to a business is against all intuition in my opinion.
Also, can we please have the option to change the language to English (UK)?
I guess an IT person might recognise the benefits of this release but from a simple user perspective, this release doesn’t appear to offer anything new in terms of functionality.
Still love using Manager though
Perhaps the X could be replaced by the word “home” in brackets similar to the “(remove)”
Just my two cents suggestion.
If this is possible, can you please make this change optional.
Whereas there is a need to have more flexible way of access rights assigning (and as I understand this might be a driver for this change), there is a number of use cases when having many businesses run side-by-side is much better.
I am thinking in terms of accounting consultancy practice where small team keep accounting books for number of small businesses. So having, say 20 businesses will take 20 instances that need to be run.
Yes, this is manageable with nginx front-end serving as a reverse proxy, with location rewrite rules, but current situation is much easier to set-up, and, more importantly, to update (e.g. after change with new file there will be a need to add manager instance autostart and to add rewrite rule to nginx config).
Possible argument here is that it will complicate set-up/configuration (i.e. if this change will be optional). But I think that as long as we are speaking about server edition it is reasonable to expect that power user will setup this and he will be able to cope with, say, text configs and command line parameters.
Again, my two cents.
Thanks Brucanna.
I can’t get there. As said, searched for the file on my computer to delete from outside the program but it appears not to exist on the computer.
