If I use the delivery notes tab to keep a check on the materials released from the Warehouse, will it affect the Inventory report in any way?
Based on the delivery notes, I will be passing the Inventory write-off entry to the particular projects at the month end.
No, for now the delivery notes is used to record a transfer of inventory out of the business store. You cannot use it for transfers within the business such as using it to record a transfer from storage store to production room or point. You can use Inventory Transfer tab
Why doesn’t the delivery note reduce my inventory on hand? The Goods-out process for us needs to be a manual process, as we cannot link it with the sales invoice (due to various reasons). Whats the best way to make the goods out to a particular project?
What do you mean by that?
If you don´t want to share screenshots, fine, but don´t expect people from this forum, who are all volunteers, to help you. @Abeiku has already helped a lot of people.
He asks you to clearify your question by showing one or more screenshots.
These screenshots are needed to get more understanding of what did cause your problem.
It could even be a a wrong date in your delivery note.
You should look at Qty on hand column. Qty owned is only affected when ownership changes when an invoice is issued.
There’s a field in Delivery Notes for Sales Invoice. After you linked those, you can trace going from Delivery Notes to Sales Invoices but not back.
If you want two way traceability, you need to implement Sales Orders which will enable you to trace from Sales Invoices all the way to Delivery Notes and back.
Qty in Hand is reduced. But the Inventory report still shows us the full qty.
what i meant when i said “cannot link sales invoice..” is, we do not want to link the sales invoice with inventory, as we invoice in lumpsum, as we charge the clients for the item plus the installation, we do not want to bifurcate these in the sales invoice.
Basically what we want to know if there is any way where we can get the goods out of inventory with its corresponding cost too. The way i see it, the only way is a journal entry.
Debit - COS
Credit - Inventory
and this we do by checking the avg. price of the item.
That shouldn’t be a problem. If your Delivery Note originates from a Sales Order, the Order will contain these additional charges and you can copy the Order to a Sales Invoice and it will work fine. The linking is the same and the Invoice will show the additional charges.
If you don’t use Sales Orders, you can still type in the additional line manually in the Invoice and copy documents as usual.
Before getting any report on COGS, you need to go to Inventory Items and Recalculate your Total cost column.
