I am using Manager.io Cloud and I am facing an issue with Production Orders.
I have entered Inventory Unit Costs under Settings → Inventory Unit Costs for my raw materials.
However, when I create a new Production Order using a BOM, the Unit Cost fields are blank and I have to enter the costs manually for each component.
After I manually enter the costs and save the Production Order, the total BOM cost is calculated correctly. But when I create another Production Order using the same BOM, the Unit Costs are blank again and I have to repeat the manual entry.
I also noticed that some inventory items already have an Average Cost, but the Production Order still does not populate the Unit Cost automatically.
Could you please clarify:
Should Production Orders automatically use the values from Settings → Inventory Unit Costs?
If yes, why are the Unit Costs not being populated automatically for every new Production Order?
Is there any setting I am missing, or could this be a bug?
For reference, I am using Manager.io Cloud with BOMs for furniture manufacturing.
Thank you. Before I run Recalculate, I would like to confirm one thing.
Will recalculating the Total Cost affect the costing of previously completed Production Orders or Finished Goods, or will it only recalculate inventory costs for future transactions?
I want to avoid changing the historical costing of my existing production records.
First, I manufacture an intermediate item (sub-assembly) using its own BOM and complete the Production Order.
Then I use that completed sub-assembly as a component in the final BOM, together with other raw materials, and complete the final Production Order.
All BOMs are complete, and the Production Orders are completed successfully. The total production cost appears correct on the Production Orders.
However, when I view the Inventory Profit Margin report, the costs are incorrect:
One finished product shows only the cost of the sub-assembly.
The other finished products show zero cost.
I expected the Inventory Profit Margin report to show the complete finished goods cost, including both the sub-assembly and all additional raw materials consumed in the final Production Order.
Is this expected behaviour, or is there something wrong with my BOM setup, production workflow, or inventory costing configuration?
For that I need to see a screenshot of the report, drill down into Profit, drill down further into one of the suspect transactions and see its Edit as well as its Transaction Journal to asses what exactly happened and try to reproduce it myself.
