Sales quotation & invoices questions

Hello guys, thank you for this neat software.
Can u help me with some things ?
In sales quotes, can I have the custom line items counts along with quantity toward the total price.
For example I added “rate” & “margin” and want the system to automatically do the equation:
rate * quantity * margin * unit price = total units price.
Right now it only do quantity * unit price.

Is there a way to do such thing currently or it is planned for later versions ?
It will be perfect for quotation & invoices.

Also I am noob regarding tech stuff but which one is easier to setup for noobs so I can buy it server or cloud version ?

what exactly is the margin in a sales quote? you do not inform your customer what your profit margin is.

you should use the discount option instead.

all editions are the same except desktop edition does not support multiple users.

Sure we don’t inform them and I checked “don’t show in print” option on so they can’t see it in prints.
But my problem is that I want the “rate” & “margin” customs lines to count automatically.
For example I made a custom line “currency rate” & “margin” so when I enter in both fields 2 & 2 for example I want the system to do the equation
Quantity * unit price * 2 * 2 = total unit price for example instead of just qty * unit price.
Is this doable in the current version ? Do I need a programmer to do it and where he should do it ? Is it planned for next version ?

And regarding the server vs cloud which one requires the least hassle to setup so I can buy it and not have to hire a programmer too ?

this cannot be done. and it is not a good idea to be implemented either. you may hide the margin column from not showing on the printed document but you cannot hide the calculation. the customer can easily calculate your margin just with the remaining values shown on the invoice.

you do not have to hire a programmer for any edition except for the server edition if you personally do not have the knowledge of setting up a server.

If you are the only person using it, Desktop Edition will do the job for you.

If you need someone else to log in as well, use Cloud Edition, as @sharpdrivetek indicated above. It is very simple to sign up, and you can do that here if you haven’t already done so:

  1. Visit Cloud Edition - Manager.io
  2. Enter your email address and click “Get Started”

@Nautilus, the reason you cannot have custom line items included in calculations is that Manager has no idea they are coming. Many things are done in many parts of the program using data from one field or another. Some of them are invisible to users. Inserting custom calculations into the process could throw things off, perhaps in modules you are not even using yet.

If you haven’t noticed, all custom fields are informational. None of them anywhere is involved in any calculations.

What you are asking for is pricing software, not accounting software. Those sorts of functions are usually easiest to do in a spreadsheet, with greater flexibility to explore options.
