Sales Order for non Inventory Item, Qty to deliver and Delivery Status

Sales Order for Non Inventory Item, Qty to deliver not counted and Delivery status show Delivered

You can not expect this for Non inventory items, see guides at Create non-inventory items | Manager

Specifically:

Note
Non-inventory items can be used for sale and purchase of physical goods, but they do not support counting quantities on hand, monitoring stock movement, or calculating profitability. For those functions, use inventory items.

Any reason you need to track quantities of Non-inventory items ?

In the expedition business, we use Non-Inventory Items complete with quantity and units.

It will be easier for us to ensure that the quantity of goods we send with Delivery Note is in accordance with the quantity in the Sales Order.

I hope this isn’t so complicated to implement in Manager.

Logically, when Inventory has Units, it must have Quantity, even though the Value is zero and we should be able to track it as with Inventory Items.

Thanks

I find it hard to assess the value of your use case.
The only clarification I can see is it should work that way because that is how you have used it.

What sort of things are you actually selling using none inventory Items specifically. What sort of units are you actually using? If this a physical thing you have? Is there a finite quantity you actually have? Why is it inappropriate to use inventory items for these items?

I’m not saying you don’t have a valid use case, I’m just saying from what you have said I have no idea.

What we sell is a goods delivery service.

The value of the service we obtain depends on the quantity given by the customer to us for each project.

For one project, sometimes we need several deliveries, each delivery will use a Delivery Note which includes the Qty of the goods sent. that’s why we need Delivery Status on Sales Order Tab, to make it easier for us to do tracking.

@Mabaega, you are trying to use an accounting program as a work planning and tasking tool. Manager was not designed for that. Non-inventory items are really just shortcuts to promote consistent entries. The fundamental concept behind them is that they represent goods or services that specifically do not need to be tracked.

OK, Delivery Status is actually not a big problem for us, I just think that if the Delivery Status in the Sales Order Tab for Non-Inventory Items could be tracked based on Quantity, this would make it easier for us to know whether the Delivery is according to the Sales Order.

If this will violate the established concept, no problem, I’ll go along with it.

Thank You

It was already explained that this is only part of inventory items and as the guides and @Tut explained that Non-inventory does not track anything such as quantity.

Maybe you should try to set the current non-inventory items up as Inventory items and give them a 0 (zero) value because they do not belong to you. You can then use Purchase Order and Sales Order to track their quantity as per recently changed inventory management system
