Which is the best form for CSV (Excel) to import inventory items . No of columns and column headings etc.

It doesn’t matter how many columns you have or what are the names of headings. Manager will ask you to match columns.
I recommend try importing on empty dummy file first because Manager doesn’t have bulk-delete so if you import 1,000 inventory items into your real accounting file, you won’t be able to delete them in bulk.
And even if you import into live file, make backup right before importing so you can easily revert back.
It will be good if you can introduce the BULK-DELETE feature for the inventory
