Is there any reason it was removed.

The themes function has already been put into obsolete features since Aug 9, 2022 10:22 PM.

The latest version (22.8.9) is moving Themes under Obsolete Features. Themes will continue to be working the same for foreseeable future. But if you are not using themes at the moment, you should not start using them from now on. For those that are using themes, I’m looking into what problems themes have been solving and how to solve them differently (using approach that does not require custom programming). Migrating from Obsolete Features to Current Features

You can delete those extensions. They don’t do anything in your case. Currently there is still no replacement for themes. Eventually there will be but I’m not at that point yet.
