Wondering if there’s a way to change the investment accounts can be switched back to using base cost instead of market value anywhere?
I set everything up on version 22 and the accountant was happy and understood the numbers. The upgrade to v24 changed investment accounts to show market value totals instead, so know we have to really dig to get the base cost… it’s very annoying
Manager is missing the ability to clearly show totals of actual accounting transactions. That is a significant limitation for an accounting program. It is not a labelling problem.
Agree
Imo what Managers investment module is missing is the ability to select a custom accounts for each investment’s Manager built in function. With that users could then set up accounts to track “at cost”, separate to “unrealised gain/loss” etc
My issue is that the balance sheet is ‘incorrect’ in that it should show base cost, but instead shows the assumed market value, which isn’t accurate anyway, because it’s a PITA to keep the market prices up to date. The old version was perfect, but downgrading is impossible now the database has been updated
@bradlyons my point was, you can enter your cost price instead of market price. And cost price is shown to you in your broker account. You just need to update it every time you sell or purchase investments since that would always affect your cost price.
Eventually there is going to be simple button to update all your market prices from online sources. So eventually it will be accurate and you won’t need to enter market prices manually.
@lubos thanks for the clarification. I found that if I delete all entered market prices, it falls back to cost, so that’ll do for now. Thanks for the help
