pleas explain about inventory utilization to specific project
I don’t use this feature, so I can only recommend that you look at the following sources:
Old Guides www2.manager.io/guides
New Guides www.manager.io/guides
This Forum, if you do a search on you your question you may find some posts that answer your questions.
Use the Forum and Guide Bot (robot head at the top) it may be able to give you some answers or posts that may help you.
@AMJA I’m not sure whether Inventory - cost
can be allocated to Projects now since it’s been switched to periodic valuation.
Only the developer would know if it’s going to be supported.
how can i contact developers?
The developer @Lubos is an active user of this forum and as per FAQ - Manager Forum note that:
This Forum is one of two primary sources of help on how to use Manager accounting software. The other is a set of Guides .
Therefore you can await his response in this forum.
you can use production order tab to utilize inventory for specific project
In our construction company, we receive materials like cement bags and record them as Inventory Receipts in Manager.io. This correctly updates stock levels, showing cement as an available inventory item.
However, when we use a cement bag for concrete work, there is no direct way to record its utilization. If we try using the Production Order feature to deduct the cement from inventory, it treats the output (concrete) as a finished product in inventory, which is incorrect because concrete is not stored as inventory but directly used in construction. This creates an issue where materials are consumed but do not reflect properly in project costs or material tracking.
I also raised the same issue for the construction company and Lubos replied that he is going to develop the production order tab which user can use “Open” and “Close” until the production order is closed it will be shown in current assets as Production in progress which is equivalent to WIP
However, now you can solve your issue by following these:
Step1 : Set your project name as Finished goods in inventory .
Step2 : Valuation method should be AVCO
Step 3: Set your finished goods unit as “Sft”
Step4: Create production order for finished goods your Construction project set total Sft of your project as Output
Step 5: add materials and non inventory items the transferred items will be shown in inventory as finished but your production not completed
Step 6: Edit the production order continuously on daily basis to add materials and non inv items til the project
Step7: Finally you will get the total BOM for your project
Thanks
Seems that you have only one option to allocate your inventory usage to your construction projects etc, i.e.:
- create your project/contruction site as a “Division”
- then, use the Inventory/ Write off feature to reduce your stock consumption - such as your Cements etc.
- And finally allocate this transaction to your Project from the Division list.
- That is it !
PS - it would be find that @Lubos, considers to add projects drop-down in certain entry windows like this In Inventory Write-off window along with the Division.
