How to properly exit manager?

I have searched the User Guides and this Forum for the best method of exiting the Manager application (Windows desktop), when I’ve finished working with it. There was only one similar question in this Forum back in 2014, though it wasn’t answered with a solution.
I can’t find an ‘Exit’, ‘Close’ or ‘Logout’ button or command anywhere. To date, after backing-up, I have just been clicking the window’s X button at the top-right of the window to close the program. Is this the only (or best) way?

Yes, the best way to close any program on Windows, Linux, or iOS is to click the X in the top right hand side. In Windows there is a keyboard shortcut to shut it down and that is Alt + F4.

Closing the window’s X button is indeed the only way to close any of the Manager Desktop applications. Manager in essence is serving up a browser interface (try right click on a number and open in browser) and you thus will close/exit a browser window in the same way.

There is no login/logout in the Desktop application because it is a single user application and therefore depend on a computer system login. From https://www.manager.io/cloud-edition you can see that the only main differences between Cloud/Server and the free Desktop editions are:

  • Multi-user Access, and
  • User Permissions

The Manager Cloud and Server editions thus have login and logout functionality. Closing Manager is still in the same way (closing the window) but accessing requires one to provide username and password like many “online” applications such as Microsoft 365 online.
