Loss of data never happens when updating, but to be on the safe side make a backup copy of your Manager data (see Manager Cloud). Then just install the new version.

That depends on what your old version was. Release notes are here: https://www.manager.io/desktop/releases/. But most releases do not include features noticeable by users, just internal improvements. Only new features or bug fixes are announced on that web page.
