Groups on Business page

It would be great if we had an option to drag businesses in groups. For example if few projects are of same categories then there should be an option to create a group to access those businesses only. Also if any business is closed or have ended, I should be able to create a group naming it “Closed projects” and add those businesses there.

Thanks

What do you mean?
Please use Manager terms only.

Why do you need to group businesses?
Unless you have tons of businesses there is no need to group them.

Projects are not businesses. If you are creating businesses for projects, you are misusing the program.

Yes, I have tons of businesses that’s why I’d like a grouping feature

Im in construction, we have multiple projects and I run it as a separate business in manager software because each project has different partners/owners, separate vedors and different sources of funding

That is what Divisons and Projects where created for. Do you have separate company registrations, tax identification numbers, bank accounts, etc for each project. If you only have one registered business then the accounting is for that business and its divisions and projects. Treating projects as independent businesses obvioulsy can be done but would be much more work related to shared expenses, bank reconcilliations, assets management, equity, etc.

I understand. But nothing is shared in my projects thats why i treat then as separate businesses

Well, you are sacrificing all kinds of built-in reporting capabilities and making lots more work for yourself. You may also be violating local tax and reporting regulations. But that is for you and your accountant to decide.

Nevertheless, if you want to rearrange businesses on the Businesses page of Manager, give them numerical or alphabetical prefaces in their business names. Manager will sort them accordingly. For example, give every business related to residential construction an R in advance of its name on the Summary page (not under Business Details in Settings, where you should have its legal name). As projects are closed, rename the corresponding business to begin with a C. I assume you also know businesses can be removed from the list without destroying the data.

But again, all this is much harder than using Projects.

Thanks. I’ll manage

Actually I like the idea of Group in another way. We have quite a few local restaurant businesses. Their Chart of Account is almost identical. They use very similar vendors such as food and drink suppliers, local repair shops, internet and utility providers, insurance agents, etc. It would be great if we can prebuild a Restaurant Group with Chart of Account, Suppliers, Bank Rules, Reports, etc. Right now we are building a Restaurant Template as a fake business for this purpose. A Group with all the preset would be great!

You can definitly manage that by creating your own template in the template gallery:

I know right, thats what I want. I hope they bring something like that soon
