I understand that this would be a change to the current visual design standard but I just don’t see the downside of that.
When a design feature repeatedly slows workflow, a change of some sort may be warranted. Recent changes to the LHS menus were made for similar reasons.
I have definitely noticed that my workflow is impacted by having to repeatedly scroll down because a long list of checkboxes has pushed the confirmation buttons out of view.
