Fixed Assets Aquisition Date

How do I set the purchase date for a fixed asset when transferring from an existing business and for a new asset during the current period.

There’s no need to do that as far as Manager is concerned. You only need to enter your starting cost and starting depreciation.

If you still want to show the acquisition date for whatever reason, you can simply include it in the description.

@Tigadad at the moment, I use date custom field to store the acquisition date.

I also use custom fields for acquisition dates, as well as service life and deprecation method. These are all points of information useful in my tax jurisdiction, but not related to any accounting transaction directly.

In Australia you need to know the acquisition date to complete a Business Tax Return. You need to answer the value of assets first depreciated in the current year and you obviously need the acquisition date to find them in a sea of (in my case) 45 pages of assets.
