Sorry, I disagree with that. You should be able to simply turn a function on or off without having to directly modify data in the database, with all the associated risks. And due to the risks of errors (not everyone of us is a programmer), I believe that Batch-Update should be used as scarcely as possible.

Another thing I’m pursuing is ability to purge historical data. So for example, if you are purging transactions more than 5 years old, then that would also clear out tabs that haven’t been used for long time.

I totally agree with that, but then it should be variable. In the Netherlands, for example, we have a legal retention period of 7 to 10 years.

What if a user tested out a tab for a while and then found an alternative workflow. They should in theory be able to deactivate the tab and get rid of the overhead.

Exactly, I enjoy testing new features and after working with Projects for a while, I found that it works too cumbersome for my purpose.

I’m not a fan of Batch-actions given the risks they entail. I strongly advocate for the ability to toggle functions on and off without further consequences, although I understand that that’s not possible for all the functions.
