Difficulty Reconciling

I am having trouble reconciling my Bank Account. The Net Movement of the closing balances and that of the entered bank transactions does not reconcile. At first I thought I might not have entered transactions (spent) for a certain date as they were not showing and when I did spend money, the other transactions disappered.

what do you mean by other transactions disappeared?
please post some screenshots

the MAIN ACCOUNT on 31 July 2016 and 01 August 2016 you entered the following closing balances.
Check both balances to make sure you entered them correctly.
Closing balances
Date Closing balance

7/31/2016 R 136,143.31

8/1/2016 R 134,221.31
Net movement
−R 1,922.00
Check bank statement lines on your bank statement for the period from 31 July 2016 to 01 August 2016.
Enter missing bank statement lines, fix incorrect amounts or delete transactions which don’t appear on your bank statement.
Net movement as per your bank statement closing balances above must equal to net movement as per your bank statement transactions below.
Transactions

Date	Transaction	Contact	Amount

8/1/2016 Payment Affinityhe2863485816 −R 1,707.00

8/1/2016 Payment #Monthly Account Fee −R 215.00

8/1/2016 Payment #FNB obe 60609192 −R 153.45

8/1/2016 Payment Affinityhe2863485816 −R 1,707.00

Kindly see above. Previously all the August transactions except for the ones for the 1st of August were showing and so I spent money again thinking I had not done that and the above happened. That is the reas
on why Affinityhe is entered twice as I had started with it. I tried to printscreen but it appeared blurry and then copied and pasted .

You have asked for help with what is probably the hardest thing to troubleshoot remotely, without seeing both your bank statement and all your bank transactions. So you will probably have to find the problem yourself. But here are some ideas based on actions that have helped others in the past:

  • Delete the duplicate transaction on 8/1/2016 for Affinityhe.
  • Check all the transactions during the time period involved to make sure the Cleared dates are set and that they match the dates the transactions are listed on the bank statement.
  • Pay close attention to the monthly account fee transaction for 215. If you had not noticed, the net movement figure Manager calculated of 1922 is the sum of 1707 (the duplicate transaction) and 215 (the account fee). Be certain this transaction is not duplicated elsewhere on a different date.

Thank you
