I am so not expert in custom reporting, but i need a quick fix right now if anyone can help me.
Sales order report - just like AR report, showing all sales order with total amount, and amount which has been invoiced, not yet invoiced, and partially invoiced. sorted based on customer name.
report based on project name, listing all income’s sources (invoices) and direct costs’s sources (payments)
Then why not stick to the standard reports available? If you want a custom report you will need to experiment with it and learn the ins and outs. Show your best attempts, etc.
My comment related to the fact that @yhart explained that he has no clue how customs report work. Without putting effort into experimenting and learning to create these then one should consider what essential accounting info one can get reports on and these are like P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash-flow at a minimum and available under reports. So you either dig in or settle for what exists.
@eko i dont think you realized what i need. what i need is a sales order report. can you find it in the currently available report?
As im aware there is no standard reports for sales order, and as you can see above i have tried experimenting with custom reports. (see above my screenshot on my attempt on custom reports).
i just need someone to correct what i’ve been doing wrong. to produce the result that i want.
The Sales Order Tab has the STATUS column but I can not see how much is not yet invoiced. I have to manually calculate the amount that has not yet been invoiced.
I remember at one point, Unit Price field was removed from Sales Orders but, thankfully, now it’s back again which means that tracking invoiced amounts against sales orders is now possible.
I did realize what you needed and did not like you to ask us to do the job for you which is against the forum rules. Up till now you did not show the results screen of your “attempt” as requested by @tut. I think that you just want us to do your job hence my response.
On the contrary, @yhart, @eko was completely correct to ask for the result of your attempt. Telling forum members via a post what you want in vague terms without engaging in the process yourself is, indeed, asking others to do your own work. That is why the forum rule exists:
“If your question is related to custom themes or custom reports, always post the code or report definition you have developed and the results it produces.”
@Tut i perfectly understood and don’t mind you or him asking for the results of the attempt part. i haven’t posted the result yet because it will expose my company data.
But as you can see i was being criticized way before he asked for the results though.
A reasonable concern.
The simplest solution to which is create a test business with dummy data then use that to post illustrations on the forum.
A test business can be created from scratch with just a few illustrative transactions (which often makes the reports easier to understand/ debug).
Alternatively you can backup your real business, re import it, rename it, batch delete confidential data, then use the residual as a test business for posting examples.
