I want a classic trial balance: no group headings, no net profit or loss figure, just the balance on each account.
I tried both a custom report and the standard General Ledger Summary without success.
Yes, I can get what I want via Excel, but particularly the reserves b/fwd balance requires a calculation to remove the profit loss for the year which is a nuisance.
I understand what you say, but if you think it through you will see that is incorrect.
The starting position for the current year’s GL/TB comes from the previous year’s balances, hence the balance on P&L/reserves for the current period is always the closing balance b/fwd. The double entry for the current year produces debits or credits to the individual P&L accounts in the GL, the net of which produces a profit or loss, but that is not how a classic TB is constructed. Fundamentally, the way Manager reports reserves in the TB is incorrect from a classical, double-entry, perspective. IMO of course.
