I’ve been using Manager Chatbot a fair bit recently; it’s a marvellous addition. I’m finding. though, that it often suggests solutions based on obsolete versions of Manager. It leads up the garden path to a point when I hit a brick wall and only when I query this it announces its mistake and we can move on.
It needs to work ‘Top down’ from the latest version of Manager, rather than ‘Bottom-up’. Anyone else had this problem?
I always use Chatbot sir, but I won’t take its suggestion if it’s way too old solutions, then look for an updated one by scrolling it or similar thread.
The problem is one doesn’t know it’s an “old solution” until one tries to follow its recommendation!!! Searching the forum is another option I use, opting to read the latest relevant posts first, of course. But the ‘Bot shouldn’t proffer archaic solutions imho.
Although I wholeheartedly agree with @muffin, however, chatbots have a mind of their own and user need to give them feedback so they can learn from their mistakes.
Obsolete answers come as a result of the quick cycle of development, however, when things eventually settle, development will slow down and chatbot will catch up to the current state then.
You can always double check Manager’s chatbot against the forum’s chatbot which will give you a quick overview of any recent changes.
The issue is that chatbot is using official guides and the content from this forum. It’s the content from this forum which contains outdated information.
Also chatbot is using its own general knowledge so it can sometime make up answers (correct or incorrect) if the information hasn’t been specifically covered anywhere yet.
I’ve seen other chatbots having the same issue and one of the solutions for chatbot is to specifically query information from the current or last year only. That should improve it.
Also, perhaps making chatbot more sophisticated by always trying to match official reference guide with other contextual knowledge to determine whether contextual knowledge is still relevant. But that will make chatbot to “think” of answers longer. In the end it’s about striking the right balance between accuracy and speed.
I was also entertaining an idea where interacting with chatbot would be by email. This would allow chatbot to “think” longer. Anyway, this is very much developing technology with lots of experiments to figure out the best way forward.
Need to have a precise question until you get the answer you need, I am very dependent on chatbots as it will give me quick response, whilst they can’t perform what our programmers do, like adding or deleting and modifying the system, but for some quick and faster answer to your problem i think chatbot is much helpful.
