Change format of amount

I try to change the format of the amount in the European format (123.456.789,00) but when I click on the American format of the amount in the ‘Preferences’ the program is killed

What edition (desktop, server, or cloud)? What version?

I’m sorry that I forgot to mention that. It is the Ubuntu desktop
version. Product 18.1.97

I'll will try the programm on a Windows 10 desktop soon.
