Adding Divisions to Investment Accounts

Currently, Manager does not support the allocation of an Investment or Investment Control Account to a specific Division. I have seen comments in the past on the topic for specific aspects of divisional reporting (such as Investment Properties and Cash Flow ( Payment & Receipts) Report per division, the divisional cash flow I would absolutely love) but not any Ideas on including a Division (and maybe even Project) attribute against an investment items.

I don’t know the technical complexity but the main item I would like addressed is to be able to record an investment against a Division so that the revaluation transactions “follow” the Division the underlying investment relates to. Right now, the system Investment revaluation account cannot be allocated to a division (which I believe is right because that account is a byproduct of another process and should follow the allocations of that process) and you can only have one, so there is no way around tracking investments/control accounts you consider to be part of different divisions without a very painful reconstruction process.

Ideally, Investments should behave the same as Inventory or Fixed Assets that you can specify both the Control Account and custom accounts for revaluations/disposals with a Division for the Investment. The only real nuance here being the revaluation process.

It would also be helpful if you could set the revaluation account as an equity type, rather than profit and loss, to enable presentation (within Manager) of an election for Fair Value Through Other Comprehensive Income (“FVTOCI”) under IFRS 9. Though, that would be a much less impactful change as it’s relatively simple to work backwards with the current profit and loss setup.

Another nicety, would be to have some sort of attribute that you can “link” other transactions to an Investment (and Fixed Asset, to be honest). I rely on a CustomField2 with the ticker of the investment so I can easily see all transactions associated with a specific investment and build a unified report to see full movements (investment purchase, income during ownership, and disposal for total return). I appreciate this is very different to the rest of how Manager works but to be able to link items together would also be helpful for other purposes, like Fixed Assets, you can have regular maintenance that doesn’t get capitalised into the asset and from a management perspective, it would be helpful to see that.
