That guide says that every balance sheet account can be added to a division, but I have divisions turned on and when I look at the investment control account I have no option to associate it with a division like I could with bank accounts. I also can’t add the individual investments to a division.
So then I looked at each transaction where I purchased an investment and thought maybe I coded it to a division on the individual transactions, but I don’t see an option there either.
At present I have every transaction in my company coded to a division except for investments, those do not tie to divisions. I may just not use investments feature and use generic asset accounts for my investments as I find divisions more useful - but has anyone found a way to get investments into a division?
I am on the desktop version if that helps! I just started using this a few weeks ago and I really like it.
I am coming back to update that I was never able to get this to work. I really like the division feature, and I do not use inventory so what I decided to do was to use the “inventory” feature with each investment as an inventory item. Works like a charm. I just won’t be able to do the automatic adjustment to market value, I will have to do it by hand.
One day maybe they can use the same code that lets an inventory item associate with a division to make an investment associate with a division.
I have looked online for ages to try to find a way of doing this. Most of the information I have read states you can update any account under the Balance Sheet to have a specific Division when editing that specific account. On my end no Division field is visible in this section.
The Divisions are showing up nicely and separating my income and expenses on my P&L but not working correctly on the Balance Sheet. The P&L is controlling where the Balance Sheet items are showing but when the transaction is balance sheet only (Bank → Investments) these show up outside the Divisions set.
In the Balance Sheet and according to my readings, the Investments should be listed under Wealth, not under All.
Current balances are not perfected yet, trying to get everything to work correctly before making all balances right.
When reading the guide online to set the Chart of Accounts Accounts to have Divisions set, the images wouldn’t load and I couldn’t see what was being done specifically.
