Accounts receivable and Accounts payable posting prepayments for next financial year

Help please, I think I am having a senior moment…
I have attached some screen shots of what I concieve as being correct, but I am open to further correction.
Two examples of how I envisage coping with the task of creating sales and purchase invoices that have prepayments and part payments made against them, examples show both for current and next financial periods.
Question is am I doing this properly…

SALES INVOICE WITH PREPAYMENT FOR SECURITY BOND

  1. sales invoice created, allowing for prepayment (security bond)
  2. sales invoice receipt, recording payment against accounts receivable
  3. repaying cutomer security bond.

PURCHASE INVOICE CREATED, WITH ALLOCATION OF PREPAYMENT FOR NEXT FINANCIAL YEAR, AND THEN PART PAYMENT MADE IN CURRENT FINANCIAL YEAR
4.purchase invoice created, allowing for prepayment (for next financial year)

5.purchase invoice part payment, recorded to accounts payable.

6. prepayment for next financial year is allocated at day 1 of next financial year (ie 6th April 2017)

Is my understanding and method here correct. many thanks all…

All looks from here - but just a question, do you sell inventory, if no, then you could deactivate that tab and your screens would then look less cluttered

thats true, i did once try to use inventory items but just confused the issue, i guess i’ll take it away , thanks
