What is the fastest way to find out the last used purchase invoice number?

Since using the [Closed invoice] option for the purchase invoices, the last used number for the purchase invoices is no longer at the top when you sort the column of purchase invoice numbers descending.
What is now the fastest way to find out the highest purchase invoice number? (And still continue to use the [Closed invoice] option.

That now needs to be a two-step process:

  1. Sort the list by reference number in descending order to check the highest-numbered active invoice.
  2. Sort the list in ascending order and navigate to the last page. The highest closed invoice will be the last one on the list.
