Dear @lubos thanks for your prompt reply. However, you have taken a long and arduous way to the inventory cost… previously it was more simple and helpful… coz I can see some error in the production order column right now with negative figures as in screen shot. Though I have not made any production order there.
secondly, if some create inventory write off, where that cost will go. So u have create another column as well.
Regards
I will need to make those figures clickable so you can trace it down to original entries and verify the calculation.
This has been already implemented. Inventory write-offs
have their own column.
But can we see cost of inventory write off?
Yes, you can. Just try it in the latest version (25.2.2) to see for yourself.
It is somewhat ok for calculations, but if I want to put inventroy write to some other control account say “marketing expenses” as I give some sample to a client then it must show cost in that acct i suppose. as it use to show in previous system. cos that is cost of marketing… i hope U can make out what I m saying, please.
On inventory write-off form, you can select expense account and it will show both in the column when drilling down into cost of goods sold account and also separately on profit & loss statement.
@lubos are there any plans for implementing ability to calculate costs for multiple finished items? Currently the costs for primary finished item are being calculated while the other outputs are valued at zero cost.
@shahabb yes - I’m planning to support multiple output items in production orders soon.
It only shows up when there is at least one nonzero production order row.
Yesterday, it was showing in my case… today vanished…
Inventory write-offs work well when the cost is allocated correctly. They are charged to the expense account that was selected when the item was created. There may be a problem showing it in the profit and loss statement report.
The inventory write-off Template has two problems in allocation:
First, the allocation account shows by default the inventory write-off and it is supposed to show the exp. account that was chosen when the item was created.
Secondly, the allocation does not work.
But I don’t think it’s an urgent problem and can be solved slowly. I think fixing the profit or loss statement report is the first priority.
If you believe the column should be showing and it doesn’t, can I see your accounting file?
Allocation didn’t work if business was using Divisions
. This was a bug at my end and it’s now fixed in the latest version (25.2.4) if you refer to that.
Yes that’s what I was referring to.
I just updated to 25.2.5.2069 and noticed this while trying to solve another issue I’m having. I’m guessing this is possibly a bug… notice the dates in the first screen shot are all 02-05-2025, this is incorrect, and I can only see the actual date when I go to view. This appears to have only happened to all Inventory Write Off items that have been allocated to specific accounts on the profit and loss statement.
Hello @lubos in our case we noticed that the prepayment of our inventory contributes already to the cost of goods sold even if no quantity has been received yet. This is a case for importation where we spend on items not yet received which later on will be part of the inventory cost and eventually cost of goods sold (not upon payment).
Thank you.
Dear Lubo, the average cost of inventory items is showing too high… I don’t know where is the bug @lubos
Last week , I have updated software with the result already posted transactions in inventory have been changed. When I post inventory writte off, the average rate changed.
