Simple way to record vehicle mileage? Custom fields?

Hi, I am wondering if there is a simple way to log vehicle mileage? Seems like some kind of logging feature could be a good integration in the future but perhaps the thinking is you just use custom fields to do so? Wondering if anyone else has logged mileage with Manager before?

I believe the stated goal of Manager is to remain an accounting only app, not to morph into something like an ERP. This type of cost tracking is best handled by a dedicated third-party app: the same way consultants and contractors track time using apps like Harvest and Clockify. Those apps have tracking and invoicing features along with an API. So once the invoices are created, you just pull it into Manager via API (or manually if the volume is low).

I see. I guess I’ll just stick with making a folder and then attaching an excel doc annually or something simple.

Many years ago @lubos mentioned that custom tabs might be added in future.

I imagine in future, it will be possible to create a custom tab but it would just contain a list of custom objects. E.g. you want to track phone calls, so you could create a custom object “Phone Call” with custom attributes and it would show as custom tab.

Don’t know if that’s still on the road map but if custom tabs are added then this would be possible and using extensions one could even make some reports or do some calculations.

What do you actually mean by log mileage? I use a custom box to add mileage to every invoice and then show it on the sales invoice menu. If I search for a customer all the invoices are then shown with the dates and mileages of all the work I have done.
