am just wondering if i can configure the system so that i get the system showing the summary as per financial periods (years ) ie the dashboard summary being grouped per financial periods
If you want to see a summary view for a particular year you have to click on the EDIT button next to the word summary:
However, if you want reports per year that contain the same information then you could use the reporting function General Ledger Summary and select the period. You can create several such reports that give you more details. If you want to compare years you could generate Profit and Loss statements where you add more periods (e.g. years) see below:
And for balance sheets you can generate one for each end of the year under study. Manager is a perpetual accounting system so the start date for Balance Sheets is always the start of the business in Manager.
