The Retained Earnings Account doesn’t appear under its Chart of Account group.
Can you please show your chart of accounts as it isn’t clear what you mean, sorry?
Because Retained Earnings is a built-in account used to transfer the Profit or Loss from the P & L to the Balance Sheet, it is probably inappropriate to allocate it to a group
What are you trying to achieve by setting up groups with the Equity section?
Although the guide implies that you can re-assign it to a new group

Retained earnings can be added to a group. It depends on the totals the user wants to see, for example, Reserves and Surpluses Group.
