Is there a way to generate a report by one group? I have searched in guide and forum and did not find a really good answer. If I missed it can someone direct me to it. I am trying to create reports that my accountant request by group with only that group on report.
What do you mean by a “group”?
I have an account that has personal expenses and office in home expenses. I need to be able to make a report that just shows office in home expense. Is that possible?
I found a way by editing the pdf. Guess that is the only option.
@JHE, what you describe is the purpose for proper design of the chart of accounts.
It is designed and has worked for more than 20 years. I just ask if you could generate a report showing only one group that was categorized. Sorry I bothered you. I am new, sorry I do not know as much as you do.
Please do not take offense, @JHE. You used the term “group,” which in Manager explicitly refers to a subset of the chart of accounts. Then you referred to an account with two categories of expenses, seeming to say that you want a report for only one of the two types of expenses. That implies that the expenses could be separated for reporting if they had been posted to different accounts. In turn, that suggests a better design of the chart of accounts to fit your needs. Reporting by group and splitting expense categories are contradictory actions.
Regardless of whether you have used something for many years, it may no longer support your requirements. A chart of accounts that combines nondeductible personal expenses and deductible home office expenses doesn’t seem optimal. If it were, you would not be asking this question.
It would help others help you if you described what kind of report you seek.
I think using Divisions will work. Search the guide for division.
Thank you, that helped.
You’re welcome. Please mark my answer as solution.
