Hello,
I am Testing the software, i reached the most important part to me which is the production process.
basically I manufacture candles, so there are more than one item involved in the manufacturing process to reach the finished good.
i need your help with this process.
for example to manufacture a candle jar we use the below:
1). Wax 0.2kg
2). Wood wick 2PCS
3) fragrance oil 10ML
4). Glass Jar 1PCS
let us say that i purchased 10kg of wax, 20PCS wicks , 100ml fragrance oil , 50 glass jars.
how can i record these items into a warehouse and then from this warehouse use the necessary items to produce one candle jar knowing that i will not use all the stock of raw material i have.
Read the Guides about inventory management and production orders.
I tried to go through the guides but i didn’t understand how to apply what i read on the software , if you could help me with this it would be much appreciated
Did you look at the old guides
Inventory
Inventory includes tangible goods held for sale or production. Inventory management can be complex, and Manager’s behavior changes, depending on which functional tabs are enabled. Read Guides in the Overview section first to see which capabilities you want to use.
- Overview: Manage inventory - Part 1 Introduction | Manage inventory - Part 2 Continuation | Manage inventory - Part 3 Conclusion
- Inventory Items: Create and manage inventory items | Use inventory kits | Set starting balances for inventory items | Find and merge duplicate inventory items
- Inventory Transfers: Use inventory locations | Transfer inventory between locations
- Inventory Adjustments: Write off inventory | Write on inventory
- Production Orders: Use production orders to manufacture inventory items | Manage production stages | Understand insufficient quantity on a production order | Use production orders for repairs, maintenance, or improvements
You need to show screen images of what you have tried to do - the guides are very clear on how to enter production orders to re ord a production transaction
Dear joe,
If the guides were that clear to me dear joe I wouldn’t ask for help, I posted on the forum because I felt confused when it came to the production process. So if you can help that would be much appreciated, if not thank you. but I am not posting on the forum to recieve a reply that states the guides are very clear. I am here to find a solution and request help from people who are willing to help and support. what I am facing is stated in my request if you have the solution and can show me how to do it this would be so helpful from your side and really appreciated.
Thank you.
Create a
- test business (actually several simple test business is the best way to see different aspects)
- Enter test inventory items
- Enter a test production order
The old guides with help you do this.
Then experiment with different approaches, the resultant report and data entry requirements.
To give any concrete help, we need to know what you have tried to enter and why it isn’t giving the result you expect
Just saying it isn’t working is of no use - no one can help you without some more information
Perhaps so. But you did not even tell us initially whether you were aware the Guides existed, let alone whether you had read the relevant ones. In reality, the Guides are so simple, and their examples are so basic, they can be inadequate for complex situations. But the situation you described is at least as simple as the examples in the Guides, maybe simpler.
If you cannot understand the Guides, nothing @Patch, @Joe91, or I tell you will be easier to understand. Honestly, it appears you have not tried. @Patch’s advice to create a test business is the most valuable. You really cannot understand many things in Manager until you try them and see the results, step by step.
The first thing is that you need to create a finished goods Inventory item.
For example you want the finished item to be called FG00001 (Code) Candle Jar 10 KG (Item Name) Jar (Unit of Measurement)
Then you also you need to create an item for each of your raw materials. For Example RM00001 (Code) Wax (Item Name) KG (Unit of Measurement)
This is the first phase of your work.
After you receive a purchase invoice from a supplier of the raw materials and you have available balance of the raw materials, you go to the second phase which is the tap of production orders.
You select the finished goods (FG00001)
In the raw materials, you select each item that will be used in your bill of materials and their qty.
Hence at the end of your production, if you check the inventory module again, you will find the quantity produced and its cost as per your production order.
- I create your 4 Inventory Item.
- Create a Inventory Location (for your warehouse)
- then, I create a New Purchase Invoice
- then, I saw the impact of inventory item
- then, I create a Production Order
- then, I saw the impact of inventory item
You have 1 candle and your raw materials deducted as per production order. - Your warehouse report
Dear Ahmed,
Thank you brother for your support , I really appreciate your time and effort it was really beneficial. Thank you for the demonstration you made for me.
Best regards,
Dear Mahfuzur,
Thank you brother for your support and the effort you put in explaining for me the process, i did as per your instruction, but i faced a problem in the status of the production order ( Insuffient Quantity) how can i solve this issue , and why did it appear for me to avoid such problems in the future ?
Thank you In advance for all the help you are providing me.
Best regards,
This problem appears when you do not have enough balance in inventory.
You have to record a purchase invoice with the qty and the cost for your inventory.
Then you can use the production order.
If you are trying to use the system as you said for the first time, there is an option for opening balance for each inventory item you create and its cost.
Inventory items tape … Create New Item … Starting Balance
Purchase invoice created already.
Dear Mahfuzur,
After going by your instructions, the status now is “completed”, thank you so much for your support brother , it was very helpful. i really appreciate your effort and time. it’s really a pleasure asking help from you.
Best regards,
