I am using Mac Pro Big Sur +21.9.27 manager.During creating new inventory, If I try to put starting balance today for newly created item, the following message appears,
whereas I am just creating new item today. Why does Mangager consider this item is older than lock date?
BTW, in previous version of manager, the same message was appearing even when I am not adding any starting balance which made me unable to enter any new inventory item. Once I update to latest version, now I am able to create new item but without starting balance.
Starting balances by definition predate everything else, so they also predate your lock date. And certainly, start dates don’t mean “Today”. Entering stock starting stock balance means that you’re entering a balance before lock date. So the prompt you get is correct.
The problem as I see it is that your starting stock figures are incorrect or that you have missed some transactions and so, you have the following options:
-
Remove lock date entirely and enter the starting balance of stock. This means that you accept any changes to starting balances as a result.
-
Leave the lock date on and create new stock without starting balances and then create a purchase invoice, a negative write-off or a journal entry to correct the stock balance in the current period.
