When using a narrow window the left navigation bar collapses and is replaced by a single line navigation bar at the top of the screen. This is good and gives extra space when one has several narrow windows open at the same time. However, the navigation bar does not wrap so the only way one can get to select navigation items at the right hand end of the single line bar is by making the window wider again so the left navigation bar reappears. This seems to defeat the purpose of collapsing the left side bar. Is it possible to get the top navigation bar to wrap?
The compact layout is for mobile phone screens and navigation bar can be dragged to the side using touch.
But on non-touch displays, there is no way to do this. So I guess perhaps navigation bar should wrap onto the next line.
I thought it might be something I could adjust in the settings, but after digging through everything, I realized that there wasn’t a native option for wrapping the top nav bar. Over time, I ended up just adjusting my workflow to avoid the situation where the items at the far right were cut off. I’d open the window a little wider if I really needed those options, but it still wasn’t the most elegant solution. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’ve gotten used to it
Although I see the issue with the tabs nav bar for non touch screens, however, idk if wrapping is the solution as this would be far from optimal screen real estate utilization.
The solution imo is to either:
-
Set scroll to auto so that desktop users who cannot scroll using touchscreens or trackpads can use the scrollbar.
-
Group overflowing tabs in a context menu
-
Make the entire tabs nav a hidden “hamburger” menu
Let us consider you scroll down on receipt tab and then you want to quickly check something in your payment tab, you will have to scroll top again before you will see the side tabs and click on payment. Why can’t we have two scroll bars, one for the normal transactions and one for the left tabs. Or can’t we bring those tabs ie summary, payment, receipt…settings all to the top just like it is when you are using touch screens? @lubos
I agree that the navigation experience can be enhanced, but there are several ways to improve your navigation. Remember, Manager is a web browser-based application, so you can leverage browser features like Favorites to create quick links. Even when using the desktop app, you can open pages in a new browser tab for easier access.
The example below is how I have made links for a small retail shop.
Some browsers offer the option to create links using a vertical Favorites bar on the side. You can take advantage of this feature by creating shortcuts for your most frequently visited tabs, making navigation more efficient. Additionally, you can save links to specific forms, such as a link that directly opens a payment form, saving you the extra steps of clicking through the payment tab before selecting “New Payment”
Get a dedicated web browser or Profile for manager and decorate it with quick links
My brother, which browser do you recommend?
Chrome, Edge, Mozilla Firefox etc they are all good
But it doesn’t work once one is using half screen, vertically one can slide but not horizontaly
