Movable Fixed Assets vs Inventory Locations

With regards Inventory in manager, we are able to formulate locations and the ability to transfer from one location to the other. Is there a way that one can manage fixed assets that are movable by Identifying locations. My background is that I want to come up with an asset register that will identify specific Location of such Assets, further be able to move or transfer from one location to another.

This can be done using a custom field for fixed assets. You can set up the custom field to show as a column in the Fixed Assets tab, which will then be the register you desire. The custom field type could be a list of your various locations. Or it could be a text field where you simply record the location (e.g., Main Factory or Employee Cafeteria).

There is no form for transferring fixed assets. The reason is that fixed asset quantities are not tracked in any way by the program. Each asset has its own subsidiary ledger for calculating book value, but—unlike inventory items—Manager has no use for information on where it is. So a change of location would be recorded by editing the custom field in the fixed asset definition itself. That would actually be faster and easier than completing a transfer form, perhaps as simple as four mouse clicks: Fixed Assets >> Edit >> Location >> Update.
