when I wanted to go and add to a custom field, I realised that I have lost all the custom fields… can anyone please assist
I have the same issue here. I wanted to add details in the previous custom field but can’t find it anywhere. Is there an update we have missed out?

I have updated the guide Custom Fields - Manager.io
@lubos Is the upgrade button mentioned in the guide production-ready? Because I do not see it mentioned in releases.
Thank u…
I found the lost custom fields in [Obsolete Features]
I’ve following the guide and upgraded as many of the custom fields as i can.
originally i had this:
once upgrades were done it changed to this:
It appears that the names of the custom fields are no longer showing at the top of the columns in our sales orders page though. Is this something that can be fixed?
Also are you able to advise how the drop down list custom fields should be upgraded? Below are my remaining obsolete custom fields for your reference. when I hit upgrade button these don’t appear in the list of fields that can be upgraded. I’m assuming that these would need to be Multiple Value Custom Fields? and a very different process to be upgraded?
I’ve also tested adding a new custom field but it doesn’t allow me to show this as a column like the obsolete custom fields did. Was this an intentional change or can it be added to the new custom fields?
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
This was a bug. It has been fixed in the latest version.
Actually classic custom fields didn’t support multiple values. These are still text custom fields with drop-down options to choose from. I will have to implement conversion for those.
Column where?
Thanks for your prompt response.
My sales order tab are still showing the name of the custom field as “stringcustomfield” etc. do I need to restart my cloud server to fix this or will it fix itself in time?
The columns i refer to are on the sales order tab/screen?
click the sales orders tab and it brings up a list with multiple columns. these are the columns I’m referring to. I trust this clarifies the issue.
I vaguely remember there being a tick box in the old custom fields that said something like “show as a column” which was very handy for showing critical info for our operations.
Yes. That will force the upgrade.
It works differently now so it’s more intuitive and flexible.
There is now Edit Columns
button in bottom-right corner on each tab where you can select which columns should be visible and in which order.
ahhh yes. i remember someone mentioning “edit columns” once before but had completely forgotten.
Thanks so much for your help.
I’ll wait to see your solution to the upgrade of drop-down lists to Multiple Value Custom Fields. We use these for a quite few things so I’m looking forward to being able to upgrade everything to the new custom fields.
Sorry for the extra message.
I had a look at the new custom fields options further and the multiple value custom fields are very different in how they operate.
I also looks at the new text custom fields and it appears that they still allow a “drop-down list” as one of the “types”. This appears to be the same as how we’ve set up our drop-down fields in the old custom fields.
Is it not possible to allow an upgrade from the old text fields drop-down type to the new custom text fields drop-down type in the same way that you did with the other text field upgrades? Obviously I’m no software programmer but they both appear similar on the surface so I’m wondering if this is an easier than trying to upgrade drop-down lists to the Multiple Value Fields?
Yes. You are right. Multiple Value Custom Fields
is completely new concept and it doesn’t have equivalent to classic custom fields. Those classic custom fields are still just text fields. I will improve the upgrade process so they can be upgraded.
But if you want to move them over now, you can change your classic custom field so it’s Single Line Text
. Convert it. Then enable drop-down list on new upgraded Text Custom Field
.
thanks. that might be the easiest way to upgrade so that its all upgraded.
best of luck with the rest of the upgrades.
To be clear, that works. But you may be confused about field types. Drop-down custom fields are not the same as multiple-value custom fields. A drop-down field allows you to choose one element from a list that was entered as text, with returns between options so they appear on different lines of the menu. A multiple-value custom field allows you to choose more than one element (as in “choose all that apply”).
Thanks for clarifying @Tut.
We only need the drop down lists to select one item so they work best in our circumstances. I can definitely see the benefit in the multi value fields though.
