Liquid math error version 21.9.11

I had a subtotal working perfectly.
Then I updated the software and it is broken!
{% assign igi_celltext = cell.text | times: 1 %} returns 0
{% assign igi_subtotal = igi_subtotal | plus: igi_celltext %} returns 0

I keep checking for the next update hoping it will be fixed, but NOT YET.

Anyone find a way to make it work?
