They are not mutually exclusive. No one has said they are. Both possibilities are discussed in the topic.

Also Waiting Long Time
I cannot help but feel an urge to re-join the discussion.
About manager, I believe it’s not just an accounting system involving merely debits & credits. It’s a complete package accounting system involving trading, manufacturing and inventory control. To my belief, adding an option of reorder level or ZERO WARNING would be welcomed by many as is quiet obvious from different users’ opinion in FORUM.
It’s has been many years, the discussion is ON in the forum but, perhaps, the importance and the necessity of implementation has not yet been to the attention of developer.
In conclusion, the fact remains that the reorder option is vital or simply a warning (like **a pop-up display of available stock on hand ** ) would be very helpful too.
@lubos I sincerely hope the cognizance of this important topic gets attention of the developer soon.
Correct…
if warning message / popup is not possible… then @lubos or Manager Team can at least display QTY in Hand (During Sale) of that particular Item. if that is implemented then no need of any warning message / Popup.
it helps too
it’s a necessity for a POS system or for a shop. To show the low stock warning no need to show any popup or warning. A color changing can do this too. Generally all in color black, the selected item if low in stock changing the color to any other will help the user.
Hope the developer of Manager will make the change for his users.
Thanks.
… In other words - a "reorder level option"
Sorry, this will not be useful for manufacturing units who need materials used for production. The materials OUT process is by production orders not sales. So, your suggestions will benefit only limited users whose business is just sales/purchase.
Thus, an option of "reorder level’ will work for all users not just limited to certain business.
I mentioned this elsewhere but will repeat it here. I would advise to use a proper POS system there are free and paid for systems, etc. The summary results of such POS system can be used in Manager for Accounting purposes.
Just for Info.
I have Small manufacturing unit of Electronics Product. And having inventory of approx. 100+ different components & Items. We do not using any other software as manager fulfill all the basic needs.(And maintain qty manually is very hard. Just one thing we missing in manager … and its a Inventory low level waring or color change display if qty is lower then desired.
When I raised this question before 2 or 3 years… I advised to use Inventory report … but it’s not a perfect solution for all of us.
Hope that Team manager will look on this feature.
This is not practical for most businesses
Using two systems may cost time and money
This is not at all a good advice
Most businesses would use a separate accounting system from a POS system.
@eko Do you use two system to monitor stock. If NO, you won’t understand the hasslesome and inconvenience at your suggestion. I agree with @AMM that it is not a good advice
I see this idea has a pretty high Vote Count of 45. Nevertheless this will be handy for us too, it may reduce the need to “walk the floor”…
Yes we use POS systems and every month we reconcile with Manager. Also we only use bank imports and summary statements for CASH Pos into the Cash account (although we use Bank account as need functionality for import.
