Help with recent changes

I guess I still don’t see why it was changed as companies who don’t want to bother with delivery notes could just untick “qty to deliver” or issue a receipt straight if it’s a cash sale.

Please as advised earlier read the discussion in the post you linked to when creating this topic. For example:

I’m only forcing to use sales orders if you want to track Qty to deliver. That’s all. If you do not want or do not need to track Qty to deliver, then you don’t need to use sales orders.

There is a good reason to adopt new method. The more transactions you have, the more difficult it will be reconcile Qty to deliver and Qty to receive if something doesn’t add up. Because if something doesn’t add up, you will be confronted with every single sales invoice and delivery note from the beginning of time trying to figure out what exactly was (wasn’t) delivered. This is good point. Basically the program is reflection of how I understand things should be done and it’s based on observation of many diverse businesses. When I’ve implemented the original Qty to deliver and Qty to receive columns, I had no understanding of what I’m doing. Back then, Sales Orders and Purchase Orders were just document generators with no tracking of anything. So the old Qty to deliver and Qty to receive columns were just the first idea I had.
