German GAAP (GoB)

Payer and payee are used consistently throughout the program (in English).

A payer is the person or entity that makes the payment.

A payee is the person or entity who receives the payment.

So, a receipt form has a payer. A payment form has a payee. In both cases, the unnamed party to the transaction is the business.

An expense claim has an expense claim payer, who is the person who paid for the expense from their personal funds and is owed reimbursement or capital account credit by the business. An expense claim also has a payee, who is the person or entity that received the payment. Using your example, an expense claim payer could be an employee of the business who takes a customer to a restaurant for dinner. The payee would be the restaurant, not the customer who enjoys the meal.

However that best translates into German is up to the translation team.

I agree.
My understanding is Lubos has been working on a new “Report Transformation” implementation to enable more general and powerful country specific localisation. I may well be wrong by I suspect when that is released, reports fully implementing the above requirements will be achievable and shareable to other users in each country.

What’s the scope of this list?

hi tut,
got it, good explanation
thank you

@josefbrunner, good job
you got a lot done on the weekend, but you need to review
some of your translations please

AddNonInventoryCostIntoProduction
( Add Non Inventory Cost Into Production )

Zusatzkosten für die Produktion
changed by Braun-wzm about a year ago. Copy to clipboard

Keine Lagerkosten hinzufügen

would read: Add No Inventory Cost Into Production
changed by JosefBrunner about 3 hours ago. Copy to clipboard

NonInventoryItem - exactly what it says

may be: Artikel ohne Lager
does not neccesarily mean it is " Bestellware "
for example: shipping rates, Vehicle Mileage Charge, daily service rates etc
are items that can t be ordered but are useful to have them as non inventory items

a purchase order )

for this column maybe something else might describe it better

Coast of Sales is a column header in Reports / Inventory Profit Margin
and is related to Inventory - Cost
i think we should leave translation for this as " Wareneinsatz "

chart of accounts - inventory - cost

Statement of Profit and Loss:
angloamerikanische Bezeichnung für Gewinn- und Verlustrechnung (GuV)

Profit and Loss Statement = Gewinn- und Verlustrechnung

same for:

Profit and Loss Statement (Actual vs Budget)
Gewinn- und Verlustrechnung (Soll-Ist-Vergleich)

Gewinn- und Verlustrechnung

Gewinnermittlung
changed by JosefBrunner 4 days ago. Copy to clipboard

Gewinnermittlung is something like profit calculation or profit assessment

This discussion is showing the danger of changing translations without fully understanding how the original English is used in the program. I recommend consultation before changes are made.

This reminds me of the time when we contracted an external translator to translate the rules for a new board game in Dutch as we didn’t have the time to do it ourselves. When we read the translation it had become a totally different game. :joy:

I completely agree with you. In complete good faith but without knowing Manager @JosefBrunner made the software less usable in Dutch. This is the risk of not having a project leader for each nation. This was predictable since his first post.

@Davide, you mean he made it less usable in German.
He is certainly of good will but he joined the forum on June 11 and has read only 4 hours on the forum, and joined almost immediately the German translation team. Up until now Daniel Ruf made 1626 changes/translations as German translator. I wonder what he thinks of the changes JosefBrunner made.
Daniel is the top 4 translator of Manager.
I worked as financial controller for Swiss (German), UK, US and Dutch companies and I am very familiar with the “business and accounting” language. And yes indeed it is sometimes difficult to translate Manager the correct way simply because of the fact that languages diifer. A sound knowledge of Manager is an absolut must for being a translator.
For example: in English you have “depreciation and amorization”. In Dutch we use one word: “afschrijving” for both. A project leader for each language is an excellent idea but I don’t know if that is feasible.

Sorry for the exchange between Dutch and German.

I think that for German someone with more experience with Manager should tell us if it was better before the changes and eventually revert back to “before Josef”.

Even if I’m Italian mother tongue, I prefer to use Manager in English due to the fact that the Italian translation is not well done and that only 40% of the items are translated; and most of all, I work with international investor and so English is a must.

I’m accredited as a translator for Italian but due to lack of time, given also that I find the way to input translation a little intricate, I never put a real effort into it.

I challenge you to join the translation team. All Italian users will benefit your work.

As already said I’m already part of the team. I’ll have a look. Maybe in August during which I’ll have more free time…

BTW, I’ve already spent a lot of time and finished mapping all the Italian Taxes in Manager (with a lot of custom fields for the future required Custom Reporting) starting from a local software for the emission of electronic invoices, so certified by the Italian Tax Authority.

As you can see it was a big and meticulous job that will bring benefits to everyone:

I had a look at the translation today. I think I can work it out. As we said, I think that before starting one should think of the footprint that wants to give to the translation. For example if we wants to translate even the term Report which is commonly used also in Italy or use for example Rendiconto, a little bit archaic and nationalist or which is the best way to translate Summary because Sommario, how it is translated right now makes sense only for a book index.

@lubos,@Hennie,@davide and @josefbrunner
i would say, that josefbrunner did good cosmetics and fine tuning
on many translations regarding " accounting language ".
there are some strings that are not modified correctly, but i am sure,
that it will be corrected on the weekend.

all of you are right: if in doubt, one should always check,
how the original english strings are used in the program.
