@shahabb, before citing freight-in as justification, you should read my posts in this thread about why early payment discounts are different from freight-in.
@Tut - I agree with your view.
From the start of reading this request it occurred to me : invoice discounts has a direct effect on the turnover profit margin. In contrast, early settlement discount is a debtors’ collection function, where discounts are part of admin overheads which falls out of the scope of the production/sales division.
This is an important concept which some accounting people seems to misunderstand, hence the ongoing query.
