I would like to know how can I display the customer credit limit and current balance in an invoice.

You cannot. Credit limits and balances are calculated from the total history of a customer. Necessary information is not available when entering a single transaction.
Kindly excuse me as my question was not clear.
I agree that before you create the invoice this is not possible and am looking for this when printing the Invoice which I believe is only possible once you have created the invoice.

After you have created the invoice, the credit balance is visible in the Customers tab. But no matter where you are in your workflow, you cannot add the balance to a sales invoice.
