What do you mean by close the journal entry for a period?
If you mean do not allow entries for prior periods, then you can set the Lock Date in Settings.
If you mean something different, can you explain it a bit more

Journal entries are hardly ever used in Manager.
It is designed so that entries are made using invoices, pay slips, payments and receipts.
Can you explain in more detail what you are trying to achieve so that we can offer better help.
Stop doing it that way. Manager is a continuous accounting system not designed to be used that way.
