Is it possible to remove or make a chart of accounts items from previous years that are no longer in use inactive

In my opinion, this topic should be strongly considered as an Idea for future releases. There are reasons why in others accounting software have this feature. A couple of them could be: You created an account for temporary use, like an account receivable or accounts payable for a loan that you can or will pay (or receive) in a short period of time. Option for making General Ledger Account inactive

@lubos Could you please implement the option to make a general ledger account inactive like customers and suppliers. Businesses evolve, new GL-accounts are created, but obsolete ones can’t be deleted, so please introduce the options to make a GL-account inactive

While not “inactive”, you can always use the on the Summary tab and Reports

Alternatively, you could reallocate (find and recode) the transactions into a “collection” account and then delete the account but that is assuming you have printed the required reports. I have done this for accounts not used for a period and the account / transactions are always recoverable if required.
