With today’s progress and fast communication through whatsapp, i would like to suggest adding whatsapp button similar to the email button.
And what other proprietary program of the hour?
Sorry @Tut i don’t get your question?
Whatsapp is the property of META and thus belongs to another company than Manager. Someone else could argue that we should also have a Wechat button (1.2 Billion users in China). The now discontinued Ichat app could have been popular today and another button needs adding.
So in simple terms @Tut explained that any day some app can be popular and not the next day and that Manager should stick to the things it controls and can incorporate into its application without depending on apps that are owned by others who may even want charges.
You are right! @eko thank you for explanation ![]()
Hi
I believe the ask is to have integration with such apps. This could be a simply configurable button like Print.
Thank you
Yes I strongly support it is highly required. You can simply name it a SHARE button and then with options of WhastApp, email, etc.
I do not agree with this idea.
Integrating WhatsApp for invoice delivery would require users to pay additional fees to third parties, including WhatsApp itself, which makes the service unnecessarily expensive.
What fees?
Using WhatsApp is free
Manual use of WhatsApp is free.
However, sending automated messages via the system requires integration with a third-party WhatsApp provider and is subject to messaging fees.
The option that is being requested is the simple approach of sharing the document.
It would also be fair to say that if anyone wanted to have deeper integration with any solution, this would come at a price.
If you use WhatsApp for business,it isn’t free
However …
I was pleasantly surprised a few days ago when I found out that Windows 11 now has a Share button that’s worth something. It also lists Whatsapp as an option.
I do too believe a built in WhatsApp api integration is a bad idea, however, integrating with OS share api would definitely be a solution to this request.
Following up on this topic,
I just found out that Whatsapp uses its own protocol on Windows using the following link format:
whatsapp://send?phone={ phone }&text={ message }
I have tested this protocol on Whatsapp Desktop app on Windows and it works for saved phone numbers only, but I assume that this protocol should work for other OS’s provided Whatsapp app is installed.
I don’t see it as a candidate for ideas just yet, but I can see how this can be useful for some users to create text messages from within their manager screens. i.e, text message an outstanding customer balance for example.
I support your point, my brother. Having a share button on manager just like the print will ease work. Business is mainly done with printless documents now. At times one has to download an invoice copy and send on whatsapp with a a little long
WhatsApp and Wechat are not a just any other “proprietary program of the hour”. Billions of business people use it. Some governments provide services through those apps. They have billions of users, who may opt for Manager alternatives just because alternatives respect numbers and try to make something that resonates with masses as Whatsapp/Wechat does. For example, manager can make a fortune by making a Facebook app that integrates with facebook businesses feature to provide manager app within facebook business environment.
Whatsapp API is a very expensive tool, they try to scam users to think it’s cheap but when you actually use it, they will overcharge you a whole bunch.
You’d think that when you send a single message using an api it costs you 1 cent, but then they will charge you 1 cent for every manual message that follows in the same chat whether it’s sent or received, so it gets very expensive very fast.
Given this money trap setup, I highly doubt that that’s even possible with Whatsapp ![]()
In fact, I would argue that this will cost Manager a whole bunch of unhappy clients for no benefit plus the cost to maintain the connector up and running.
You can still, however, use the tools already in Manager to automate some interactions. You can check this other post for example:
