Adding expense category

I’m trying to add a new expense category for Research. I’ve added Research to the list in the Chart of Accounts, but when I click the Suspense drop-down in Account when creating a new payment, Research doesn’t show up. Am I missing a step between the Chart of Accounts and the Payments tab?

You have added a Group. You now need to add an account into this Group
