UI Improvement: Group optional checkboxes and add keyboard shortcuts for Invoices

Dear Manager.io Team,

I would like to submit feedback regarding the Sales Invoice edit screen to improve data entry efficiency and user experience.

  1. UI Layout & Excessive Tabbing Issue
Currently, under the “Add line” button, there is a long vertical list of optional checkboxes (Discount, Custom Theme, Footers, Late Payment Fees, etc.).
  • Unused Screen Space: The right side of the edit screen is completely empty, while all options extend deep down on the left side.
  • Vertical Scrolling: The “Create” / “Update” button gets pushed down, forcing users to scroll down every time to save an invoice.
  • Excessive Tabbing: Users navigating via keyboard have to press the Tab key roughly 15 to 20 times past these checkboxes just to reach the save/update button.

Proposed Solution:

  • Move these optional checkboxes into the empty right side of the screen or group them inside a collapsible “Advanced Options” drop-down menu.
  • Skip these optional checkboxes in the default Tab focus order so pressing Tab from the item list directly highlights the “Update” / “Create” button.
  1. Lack of Keyboard Shortcuts for Invoices
Fast data entry relies heavily on keyboard navigation, but currently, saving or updating an invoice requires repetitive mouse clicks or heavy tabbing.

Proposed Solution:

  • Save / Update Shortcut: Implement standard shortcuts like Ctrl + Enter or Alt + S to instantly save/update the invoice.
  • Add Line Shortcut: Add a quick hotkey (e.g., Alt + A) to add a new line item.
  • New Invoice Shortcut: Allow Alt + N to create a new invoice quickly.

Thank you for your continuous work on improving Manager.io!

Hello @Junaid,

Welcome to the forum.

As far as your suggestion, this is by design to make all options visible and make users scroll by available options before pressing a button.

As far as keyboard shortcuts, that would be a deep rabbithole to go down into, because this will interplay with many OS/browser combinations various editions of Manager are used on.

I think keyboard shortcuts could be reconsidered once Manager has matured sufficiently, but not at this point.

If this helps, personally, I use Ctrl + F and type either:

  • eat for Create

  • & for Create & add another

  • pd for Update

If this is under consideration, I would be the one in Accountants who really appreciate your team efforts. One other thing that makes this software as usefriendly, would be it’s invoice theme which should have setting separately in forms like qbooks. From Pakistan I have to support your efforts.
Regards.

Hi again @Junaid,

I’m not the one doing the development, I’m just an accountant that is also a forum moderator

Crtl+f is not working in Manager.

This isn’t a Manager shortcut, but rather a browser shortcut.

Btw, are you using Desktop Edition?

Yes. Why? I am going to take cloud but due to some short comings I am not doing so.
