I have been using manager since 2019, do i need to set a starting date in order to carry forward balances to 2020?
No. Read this Guide: Close an accounting period | Manager.
Starting balances are entered only when first migrating to Manager from a previous accounting system. And the program is perpetual, so you do not start over for 2020.
