The PDF generator, Apitron.PDF.Kit, adds “EXPIRED license detected, check EULA - Apitron PDF Kit (www.apitron.com)” to several document properties (some of which are not editable in a PDF editor), which could make savvy recipients think I am using illegal software! I’m using Manager.io Windows Desktop version 21.11.95, & have had to generate almost 100 invoices for charity membership subscriptions, all of which I email as PDFs. I could use a PDF printer, but this is laborious for so many invoices, & should not be necessary. I would prefer that ALL PDF document properties are initially blank, please, if the developers could achieve this.
NB: I have had to edit all my custom templates to remove the new “Business Address” field, which ideally should initially be totally blank, please! & I am also begging for History Search to come back, pretty please!!!
Also (apologies if this should be a separate topic), but could someone please explain how to generate bulk invoices without the cumbersome use of inputting data into an Excel spreadsheet, which I have never been totally successful in achieving as there are so many seemingly redundant fields in the copy function - I saw mention of using Custom Fields for multiple invoices somewhere, but couldn’t work out how to make that work & found no instructions anywhere. I hope you can help with this as the charity membership I volunteer for is growing year-on-year! Thank you in anticipation.
Happy New Year 2022 to all… let’s hope for a Covid-free one very soon!
You should really create topic per issue. Not lumping all issues into single topic. So I will address just Apitron issue here.
So far, I’m not able to reproduce this but Apitron is the only software included in Manager that is not open-source. I’m not aware that our Apitron license should ever be expiring. Hopefully that is not the case.
Thanks for replying so quickly. I have taken a screenshot of the properties of one of the invoices I have generated with the PDF function - they all had this in document properties, so I hope this gives you a clue…? Thank you in anticipation.
I have taken another screenshot of an error message from a Credit Note PDF file created with the same version of Manager.io as I previously mentioned. I forgot to mention that the invoices also create this error message. Perhaps this will assist in assessing the initial problem also?
@Lubos this is replicable, the PDF File Info gives the same info on for example MacOS. I also noticed that the version of the Apitron PDF Kit is 1.7 which was released in 2017 (see NuGet Gallery | Apitron.PDF.Kit 2.0.53 ). The current version is 2.0.49 and released a month ago. So I was wondering if some of the issues reported such as problems with arabic right to left (someone sees no problem Unicode bi-directional and right to left text in PDF documents) would have been resolved if Manager would have used a more up-to-date version?
@Tizwoz I can see it now. Looks like the library is injecting this into metadata now. For me to overcome this, I’d need to include in Manager yet another PDF library that would modify metadata which is not direction I want to take. Or simply pay Apitron for renewal license every year which is also what I don’t want to do considering internal PDF generator is legacy feature in the program and disabled by default for new users. I’m keen to move past internal PDF generator. Currently, to generate PDF, I recommend to use Print button then Print to PDF option within print button.
@eko no, the issues in the latest version haven’t been addressed. Also, Manager is using version 2.0.45 of the library, not 1.7.
Please do not remove the direct PDF function! As I mentioned before, when producing many invoices in one session, as I do, direct internal PDF creation is an invaluable function, rather than printing to PDF, which is far more cumbersome & time consuming, so please retain it somehow.
